Thanksgiving is one of my favorite times of the year. As a youth, it was still warm enough in Chicago to play outside after we were done eating, but it was cool enough that you had that neat "crisp" feeling in the air.

We were a small family: Mom, my brother, Bret, and myself. My mom would have her boyfriend over, too. But, that was it. But, to my mom, Thanksgiving represented the beginning of the Christmas holiday season. Mom sure did put on a spread for us to enjoy, too - all the fixings. I don't know how she managed to do it, really. Of course, watching football (hehe) played a big part in our Thanksgiving ritual as well.
